Bajreshwari Temple (Kangra)

Bajreshwari Temple is the most revered centre of pilgrimage in the heart of Kangra valley. The main temple attracted many foreing invaders over centuries for its wealth in gold, diamond and pearls. One of the 51 Shaktipeeths, it was where the breasts of sati are said to have fallen.  The main temple attracted many foreign invaders over centuries for its wealth in gold, diamond d and pearls. Mahmud of Ghazni  plundered it, sacked by Mohammed – bin Tughlaq and yet again destroyed by Khawas Khan, army commander of sher shah. It was stillable to recover and rebuilt several times. The sanctum also has a pindi of balackstone which is the symbolic representation of the charred breasts of Sati.
